What is the best AI course for beginners?

By TechGuyver · Updated

Short answer

For a non-technical beginner, start free: Andrew Ng's AI for Everyone (DeepLearning.AI) for the big picture and Google AI Essentials for hands-on basics. Then stop watching and start using AI on your own work every day, because that is where the skill actually comes from.

I have watched a lot of people take AI courses and change nothing about how they work. A course is a map. You still have to walk.

Start with these

Course Best for Why
AI for Everyone, by Andrew Ng (DeepLearning.AI) The big picture What AI can and cannot do, explained for people who will never code
Google AI Essentials Hands-on basics Prompting and everyday work tasks with Google’s tools
The free guides from OpenAI and Anthropic Better prompts Written by the people who make the models

Check each provider for current pricing. Several can be taken free.

Then do this instead of another course

Once you finish one course, the next 30 days matter more than the next course:

  1. Pick one AI app.
  2. Every day, hand it one real task from your work.
  3. When the result is bad, ask why and try again with more context.

That loop is the course. Thirty days of it beats any certificate. The full path is in can I learn AI by myself.

What courses do not teach

Most courses stop at prompting. The big wins for a business come after that: connecting AI to your email, calendar, documents and store, so one request runs several steps. Courses skip it because every business is wired differently.

That is the gap the Soulepreneur membership fills: a live build session every month where we wire up AI in real businesses, tools open, plus a new mini course each quarter on one job to hand off.

Not sure what level you are at? The AI readiness quiz takes two minutes and tells you where to start.

People also ask

Can I learn AI for free?

Yes. The AI apps have free plans, and DeepLearning.AI, Google, Microsoft and Anthropic all publish free beginner material. Paid courses mostly buy you structure and a certificate.

What are the best AI courses online?

For business owners: AI for Everyone (DeepLearning.AI) and Google AI Essentials. For writing and prompting: the free guides from OpenAI and Anthropic. For building with code: DeepLearning.AI's short courses. Choose by what you want to do, not by the certificate.

Do I need a certificate to use AI at work?

No. Nobody checks. What counts is whether you can show a task you now do in half the time. If an employer asks for one, Google AI Essentials is widely recognized.
